Dov Bela Gruner was born in Hungary in 1912. He joined the Zionist youth movement Betar, which helped him in 1940 to escape from Europe and arrive illegally to the British Mandatory Palestine becoming a pre-independence fighter. On April 19, 1947, Grüner was executed by the British and Egyptian authorities.
