Selichot
Selichot services are communal prayers for Divine forgiveness, said during the High Holiday season.
The Selichot are a collage of Torah verses and poetically written Hebrew works in which we ask G‑d to forgive us on a personal and communal level.
For example, Adon Selichot, one of the passages, means “Lord of Forgiveness” in Hebrew.
An oft-repeated line in the ceremony is what is known as the “13 Attributes of Mercy,” which G‑d revealed to Moses at Sinai as the key to forgiveness.
This year, over the Chagim period, let us embrace forgiveness for each other and ourselves. Let's join together and celebrate the Jewish traditions that connect us together as one nation.
