I Give Because...
By Israel Forever
Often we give without really thinking why. We are told that it is good. We are told that it is the right thing to do. We are told that if we give, we are considered a good person and we are told to give because as Jews, we are instructed to do so. In Jewish learning we hear time and time again that Tzedakah (charity) and acts of kindness are equivalent to all the mitzvot in the Torah combined.
Considering this level of prominence that giving holds in Judaism, I don’t know about you, but this year, as #GivingTuesday rolls in I want to give for a reason! I want to be a part of something bigger than myself and I want to help the Jewish community in Israel and around the world!
Rabbi Peter J. Rubinstein eloquently explains #GivingTuesday as a challenge to every presumption about the inherent selfishness of human nature and defines this unique day as a way to provide each and every one of us with the power not only to make a difference but to change and repair this world. This dedicated Day of Giving has tremendous power to positively impact people's sense of gratitude.
Grassroots support from our members is the heart and soul of charitable giving. This is your opportunity to be a part of an international movement of giving thanks and perpetuating the legacy of the Israel connection in Jewish life and identity.
This year, Israel Forever has designed special badges so that you can declare to the world why you are giving but most importantly so that you can define this act of kindness for yourself.
Why do YOU give? Choose your badge:
Because Israel Forever makes it personal
Because Israel Forever helps me feel Israel at home
Because Israel Forever makes connecting to Israel so special
Because I support Israel, Forever
Because Israel education matters
Because I love learning about Israeli history, culture and society
Because giving means caring
Because I care about the legacy of Herzl
Because we are all Israel
Because I love Israel
Because I believe in a Jewish State
Because I am a Zionist
Because I cherish Jewish Values
Because we are all one nation, a Jewish nation
Because we are all Blue and White
