Accepting many responsibilities and serving in many diverse roles throughout her life, Phyllis Greenberg Heideman, founded The Israel Forever Foundation in 2003 along with her husband Richard. She currently serves as President of the International March of the Living, having previously served as Chair of the organization’s International Advisory Board following the completion of her five-year term as a George W. Bush Presidential Appointee to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. Phyllis also serves on the Republican Jewish Coalition Board of Directors, as Trustee of the B’nai B’rith World Center in Jerusalem and on the Board of the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. In her capacity as President and General Manager of the Louisville Thunder Professional Indoor Soccer Team, she served on the Board of the American Indoor Soccer Association and guided her team to a National Championship. Recipient of the AEPhi 2007 Jewish Communal Service Award in recognition of her continued volunteer activities, together with her husband Richard she received the 2005 Joseph Papp Racial Harmony Award from the Foundation for Ethnic Understanding. She served as an NGO delegate to the United Nations World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa in 2001 and in 1985 she served as an NGO delegate to the United Nations Conference on Women in Nairobi, Kenya, subsequently lecturing throughout the country on her personal experience and observations. She previously has served several terms on the Board of Directors of the Board of Jewish Education of Greater Washington and as Chair of its Board of Licensure; on the George Washington University Hillel Board of Directors; as a member of the Executive Committee of B’nai B’rith International; Vice-Chair of the Henry Monsky Foundation; Chair of the B’nai B’rith Klutznick National Jewish Museum in Washington; as a delegate to the World Zionist Organization, Kentucky State Chair for Israel Bonds as well as on numerous additional volunteer boards. In 1981 she and her family received the B’nai B’rith International Family Award and in 1988 they were recipients of the Heritage Award from Israel Bonds.
